Give me Liberty! Liberty Tax Service, that is…

Tax season. It’s as unavoidable as, well, death, frankly. There I said it. And with tax season we get the Liberty Tax Service “street pitchmen”. Who can deny the stopping power of an underpaid person in a Statue of Liberty costume at most any intersection hawking the virtues of the firm?
I know you’ve seen them and I will never, ever belittle the person in the costume working hard for the money. But I have seen several (at least 5 so far) this year who were really, really selling. I mean, they were getting after it! Whether busting out insane dance moves or really complicated gestures of greeting, these people bought into the drama of Liberty. Kudos to their managers and the manager pep talks.
What must those have sounded like?
I mean, these employees are obviously not in sight of their managers on most locations. A friendly pump of the sign or a half-hearted wave will do in minus 10 weather. But these people are truly getting their Liberty on! This one guy was dancing as if no one was watching (they weren’t) and this other dude was practicing his fist pump/point between waves of on-coming traffic (and standing in the exact wrong place on the block, for those wanting impulse tax servicing, I’m afraid) . In short, they were going above and beyond the Liberty call of duty. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t stand on the street in perfect weather waving at cars without going crazy, so I say good job Liberty hawkers!

And whatever you do, give them the short honk-honk-honk of the horn universally accepted as the “hello” or “what’s up” from motorists.
