I feel guilty I “forgot” I loved this ad, and that my son actually commented on it, but it’s worth sharing here. Aside from the utter simplicity of the words at the end, check this out: the Stanley Cup slowly gets “lifted” into position until it is securely overhead in the victory position. Note also the passage of time for the 1940’s ? til modern day. I just got done watching this 5 more times…ahh, nice.

Macklemore Time Lapse Drawing
If you like art and art in the making then you may enjoy this video. My video is the process of a 18x24” charcoal drawing sped up from five hours to five minutes. The illustration is of the musician known as Macklemore. For those of you that don’t know, Macklemore is a Seattle bred underground hip-hop artist who speaks about the universal language between art and music. His edge and political standpoints in such songs as “Bush Song” and “American” show a different more humorous side he is known for. In the end, the north-west rapper was more than flattered to be the subject, and his producer was pleased to throw a huge shout out on Facebook for recognition.
If your interested in more of his music visit the Macklemore MySpace page at, http://www.myspace.com/macklemore

Vince with the Rap Chop Remix
If you haven’t seen it already you should check out the new hit “Rap Chop” remix video on YouTube.
Vince, the creator of the Sham Wow also made a product called the Slap Chop and advertised it on TV. Steve Porter, a well-known DJ, chopped up the audio and video from the commercial and made his own song. The catchy “Rap Chop” video soared to over 1,000,000 views in the first week and is now working it’s way to 3,000,000. With a YouTube rating of five stars and almost 30,000 rates.
DJ Steve Porter made a tour stop at Milwaukee’s [Three] Lounge on the 6th. The crowd was full of energy as this was one of the biggest names performing at [Three]. Vince’s face was included with some of the interactive video projections, along with an occasional line or two from the famous remix. Unfortunately the full version was never played. Oh well…next stop for Steve, London.

Marketing your blockbuster product or service
The Hollywood studios have become masters of successful marketing. Even in a bad economic environment, they create extensive campaigns that reach prospective customers in almost every facet of their lives. (And most importantly, they get those people into the theater.) By looking at what those studios do that works, you can find marketing lessons to apply when you want to turn your product or service into a blockbuster.
One great current example is the marketing campaign for the new film Star Trek.1 Producer J.J. Abrams2 and the Paramount marketing team have put together an extensive, integrated campaign which is already generating awareness of – and excitement about – the upcoming film. (more…)
- Yes, there is another Star Trek film coming out. This one, however, is considered something of a “reboot” with the roles having been recast with younger actors and the overall look updated for today’s audiences. [↩]
- Abrams is also behind the TV hits Lost and Alias, as well as such recent films as Transformers, Cloverfield and Mission Impossible III. [↩]

Whopper Virgins and Ox Tails
Have you seen the Burger King “Whopper Virgins” campaign? In a nutshell, Burger King has traveled to the most remote corners of the globe to try their Whopper against McDonald’s Big Mac in a test of patrons who had never seen, smelled, held or otherwise known about ground beef or hamburgers.
It is very artfully shot, with none of the wild physical humor and sexual innuendo commonly seen in the “King” campaigns. (which I kind of dig…) (more…)
